My Financial Approach

Fees & Payment

I offer services on a private-pay basis. To keep therapy accessible while also sustainable, I use a sliding scale.

My sliding scale is designed so that weekly therapy represents approximately 3% of your annual income—a meaningful investment in your wellbeing that remains financially sustainable.

Why Private Pay?

When you pay directly, you don't have to worry about insurance approval, session limits, diagnostic requirements, or your personal information being shared with third parties. Your care stays between us.

You have full autonomy over:

  • What we work on and how

  • How often we meet

  • How long treatment lasts

  • What gets documented and where

Using Insurance: Superbills for Reimbursement

While I don't bill insurance directly, I can provide detailed superbills after each session that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.

What's included in your superbill:

  • Dates of service

  • CPT codes (procedure codes)

  • Diagnosis codes

  • My NPI and tax ID

  • Everything your insurance needs to process your claim

Many clients receive 50-80% reimbursement from their insurance company, which can significantly offset costs.

How to Check Your Benefits

Call the number on your insurance card and ask:

  1. "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?"

  2. "What's my out-of-network deductible, and have I met it?"

  3. "What percentage do you reimburse for out-of-network mental health services?"

  4. "Is there a session limit for outpatient mental health?"

I'm happy to help you understand your benefits during our consultation call. Navigating insurance is confusing, and I want you to get every dollar you're entitled to.

Why I Don't Bill Insurance Directly

I stepped away from direct insurance billing after experiencing significant financial losses from unpaid and denied claims. More importantly, I've watched insurance become a barrier to care rather than a pathway to it.

In recent years, insurance companies have:

  • Dropped coverage for gender-affirming care

  • Restricted access to reproductive healthcare

  • Imposed arbitrary session limits that disrupt treatment

  • Required diagnoses that pathologize normal human experiences

  • Denied claims for services they previously approved

I don't want your care subject to that kind of gatekeeping. By working outside the insurance system, I can focus on what actually helps you rather than what an insurance company decides to cover this quarter.

That said, I know insurance matters—that's why I make superbills as thorough as possible so you can recover costs through out-of-network benefits.

Payment Details

  • Accepted: Credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, Venmo, Check

  • When: Payment is due at time of service

  • Payment plans available for clinical evaluations—just ask

My Philosophy on Money & Care

Although few of us feel this way, we actually live in abundance. Healthcare should reflect that, not the artificial scarcity created by insurance companies. If cost is the only thing standing between you and getting support, please reach out anyway. During our consultation, we can talk openly about what's feasible. I'd rather problem-solve together than have you go without care.
